Why My Learning Projects Usually Solve Real Problems

When I learn something new, I find it difficult to build projects just for the sake of learning.

If I need to create something practical to reinforce the theory, I almost always choose a problem that could actually be useful in my life.

If I am learning a new technology, I would rather build something that automates a repetitive task. If I am learning to work with data, I prefer to organize information that I previously had to manage manually. If I am testing a new development approach, I would rather apply it to a real problem than create another abstract tutorial project.

That is why many of my projects originally started simply as a way to learn something.

Not all of them were successful. Some remained prototypes. Some ideas had to be completely rebuilt, and others were eventually abandoned.

But even those projects were rarely useless.

Some automated parts of my work. Others helped me organize information. Some became the foundation for later projects. And sometimes the main result was simply understanding how a particular problem should not be solved.

For me, learning works best when theory immediately meets real life.

Then you do not just finish with new knowledge.

You also finish with something that makes your life a little easier.
